Anise Cookies
Every Christmas my mom and I usually spend days baking cookies for various parties/gifts. I usually try a new recipe every year but there are some beloved recipes staples we make every Christmas, one of which is the Anise cookie. Anise is a very unique spice, it's a cross between liquorish and fennel with a dash of tarragon. These cookies are crunchy but they pair very nicely with a not cup of tea.
Ingredients
1/2 cup Butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp anise seeds (crushed)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp anise flavor (optional but recommended)
1 3/4 cup AP flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 350
2.Cream butter an sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg and vanilla then add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
3.Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place each on lightly greased baking sheet. Press each ball two times with a fork, going in each direction.
4.Bake for 15-20min.
(Also pictured are snowball and cranberry white chip cookies, recipes coming soon!)
