Tossgreen Review

When we approached Tossgreen, I wasn't really excited. #1 it's closely situated near Moe's which is one of my all time favorite go-to places for lunch and #2 it's a place that revolves around healthy wraps and salads which in my mind equals me paying a bunch of money for a meal mainly consisting of bean sprouts and lettuce. What intrigued me about Tossgreen is that they claim to use all natural foods and try to source produce locally if they can (which is awesome). I must say they have some pretty impressive selections when it comes to fillings, among them are edamame, quinoa, and marinated tofu. It's set up like a giant buffet of endless healthy choices and you just simply tell them what you want on your salad or wrap, then at the very end they conveniently toss everything together and chop everything up into bite size bits.

After much debate, I decided on the Thai Twist salad with shrimp, edamame, shredded carrots, green peppers, and peanuts topped with a lime cilantro Thai peanut dressing. When they handed it to me I thought that's it? This tiny little plastic bowl of salad is supposed to fill my Moe's void? Until I started eating it, I did not realize just how satisfying and filling a salad can be. This cilantro peanut dressing was so face meltingly delicious I did not know what to do with myself. It was packed with peanut goodness and even though I am not a huge fan of cilantro and bell peppers I didn't even care, I am quite convinced I would have eaten anything that was smothered in this dressing.

My friend ordered a custom wrap with quinoa, pico de gallo, grilled steak, shredded cheese, and romaine lettuce. Her wrap was good but it was a tad on the bland side because she didn't choose to pair it with a dressing. Halfway through the meal she decided to ask for some honey mustard and they gave it to her free of charge, that amped up the flavor a little bit but I personally thought it would have been better if they could have somehow grilled the burrito and but some queso on there in place of the cheese. We also shared a side of chips and salsa which was very underwhelming. The chips were slightly stale and they had that healthy cardboard taste to them. The salsa was pretty freaky as well (in a bad way) it tasted like spicy raw, earthy tomatoes, I would not order those again.

Overall I would say that Tossgreen would be worth a trip if you worked in the area and you needed to grab a bite. If you get a wrap, definitely get your filling tossed in a dressing (trust me) and for the love of all things good on this earth, PLEASE try that Thai chopped salad (unless you have a deadly peanut allergy) you will not regret it.
