Rock City is one of those strange attractions that looks straight out of the 1930s. You're not sure if you're wandering through a German forest, or meandering through a dream (nightmare?) laden with storybook references and gnome villages. Either way, I absolutely LOVE this place.
Ever since I went with my parents, probably close to 7 years ago, I have been obsessed with Rock City. Nestled among the Georgia/Tennessee mountains is this mystical land of rocks, cliffs, and caverns. It's a place unlike any you've seen before which makes it particularly difficult to describe. It began as simply a backyard for the Garnet family and because of the wife's German heritage, and the influence of European folktales, was transformed in "Fairyland" in 1932. It was since molded into what it is today, a freak accident of nature beautifully preserved over time. No matter where I am in the world, this will always remain a worthy destination.
