It was around 9 am, the birds are singing, the sun is shining, and the air smells of stale beer and urine. Ahhh yes, to explore a street notorious for it's night life during the day. Don't get me wrong, it was not without it's charms, the first (and one of the only open) places we hit up was Easy Tiger (a bake shop meets beer garden) who flooded our senses with freshly ground coffee and homemade breads. You'll also find The Driskill Hotel which is an 1886 southern beauty, oddly nestled between night clubs and tattoo shops right down the road from the Texas State Capital. We wondered in and explored it's elegant and somewhat eerie halls and it made me imagine what this street looked like back when this hotel was built, if you look closely you can see remnants of what was, like the faint outline of "Carriage Shop" letters above what now is a local bar. This would be the last walk from our Austin trip before heading to Waco, even though the scorching weather made it difficult to enjoy anything at times, Austin definitely left us with a good impression.
This cool little oasis was situated right beside Easy Tiger, it would make an ideal spot for an evening cup of joe.
Behold an iced coffee and almond croissant of epic proportions! We also got a gingersnap which was tasty but it didn't even come close to the pastries and breads here, can I take you home with me Easy Tiger?
San Antonio next but in cooler weather =D
