D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe Review (Rice Village)

Last weekend Lewis and I realized we haven't eaten Italian since we moved to the big city so we decided to fix this predicament and head on over to D'Amico's Italian Market nestled among the shops in Rice Village.

Not to sound biased or anything, but I LOVE places like this. Places that sell regional goodies, fresh pasta, gelato, coffees and pretty much looks like it was ripped from the heart of Italy (not that I would know but a girl can dream). I felt like I was walking into an Italian grandmother's house - and I mean that in the best possible way.

I ordered the rolled stuffed eggplant with a spinach, ricotta, and Romano cheese filling paired with a Caesar salad. I'm just gonna go head and say this now, I could have eaten an entire bowl of this salad, it had just the right amount of dressing and Parmesan cheese and what really made it for me was the capers which gave it that extra salty zing!

But enough about the salad, let's get on with the entree...the eggplant was good, the tomato sauce was fresh and had great flavor, it just become sort of monotonous after a while. It made me regret not ordering a pizza pie instead (I was just craving some texture I suppose)

Lewis ordered the lunch portion of the classic Italian Meat-a-ball. He said it was, and I quote "one of the best meatballs he's ever had." Great flavor and consistency and like my meal, it was smothered by that classic tomato sauce that makes you wanna lick the plate.

The Verdict:

D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe provides a cozy atmosphere with all the comforts of classic Italian cuisine. While I left feeling somewhat unfulfilled, I definitely plan on making a return visit for the savory pies and salads!
