Crater Lake National Park

Finally made the trek down to the beautiful Crater Lake this past summer! Years back I thought crater lake was formed by a giant meteorite but it turns out that it was an imploding mountain which is pretty hardcore. While we were only here for a day, we were able to see quite a bit of the park. I would recommend starting at the visitors center then working your way around to each viewpoint...

To the right is Vidae Falls which is easily accessible from the road.

Phantom Ship - the oldest formation of Crater Lake, estimated to be around 400.000 years old!

I would highly recommend taking the Cleetwood Cove Trail down to the water. It's a little difficult walking back but the views are totally worth it. If you're willing to brave the cold waters, people are welcome to swim and fish.

I was definitely in awe of Crater Lake. I remember always seeing pictures on Pinterest and in travel magazine but it's, of course, a different experience entirely when you get the chance to see it in-person. We went toward the end of July and there were still patches of snow so I would definitely recommend visiting during the summer months as it was still cool and comfortable enough for a hike. One thing I just couldn't get over was how blue the water was...like very, truly, blue almost suspiciously so. I cannot wait to make a return trip with Lewis and hopefully explore more of the trails.
